Meanwood Sure Start Children's Centre
Meanwood Sure Start Children's Centre is located on the same site as Meanwood Primary School, in front of our Infant building.
The centre provides advice and support from the time of expecting a baby right through until children are entering the reception class. Staff can signpost parents to a wide range of services working with families, children or adults.
There are a range of activities going on each week and new parents are always warmly welcomed to join in and attend. During school holidays, there are activities which you can also bring your primary age children to.

Spotland Library
Spotland Library is around the corner from our school, located on Ings Lane.
It is free to join if you have not already done so, and the library service provided is excellent!
The library carries a fantastic stock of childrens books and if you are looking for something they do not hold there, but have in another branch, they are happy to order it in for collection there (subject to availability).

Touchstones
Touchstones is an arts and heritage centre found on The Esplanade, opposite Broadfield Park, next to the Police station. It offers an art gallery, local studies centre, arts and heritage resource centre, museum, cafe and shop and provide tourist information. There is plenty to see and do for children of all ages and the entrance is free!

Greater Manchester Police
Our local PCSO (Police Community Support Officer) is Martin Giblin. Martin visits school regularly, helping us with events such as Community Kids. Contact him by email on martin.giblin@gmp.police.uk

Rochdale Foodbank
Meanwood Primary School is a partner agency of Rochdale Foodbank (Link opens in a new window). Our school are helping to collect and donate food for families, which will be distributed by the foodbank to families in need in Rochdale.
Meanwood School and Meanwood Children's Centre also hold a number of food vouchers which we can give to families from our school or who use the Children's Centre. The voucher can then be taken to the foodbank and exchanged for 3 days of food and essential items for the whole family. This is available to anyone who needs support in a crisis situation, eg if a parent has had benefits stopped, a crisis loan refused or has had an emergency to deal with that has left them without money to buy food.
If you or someone you know is struggling to feed their children, please speak in confidence to the head teacher at Meanwood Primary School or the Centre Manager at Meanwood Children's Centre.
Spotland Community Centre
Spotland Community Centre offers a range of activities and courses for adults. For instance, there are free IT classes and free English classes for speakers where English is not their native language.
A free Jobs Club is also provided, which supports you in creating a CV, search for jobs and gives general advice.
Other activities of interest include sewing classes, zumba and cooking classes.

Learndirect
Learndirect offer qualifications in everyday skills including Maths, English and ICT. Vocational Qualifications and Apprenticeships in a range of industries and sectors are also available, as are Higher Level Professional Qualifications. There are a variety of options to study, which include short courses and online learning.
